From International Banking to Charitable Finance
Looking back over my career, I recognise how fortunate I have been. My professional life began in senior international banking roles, where I had the privilege of establishing financial institutions from the ground up and shaping their strategic direction. My responsibilities extended well beyond balance sheets and quarterly reporting. I was involved in designing organisational structures, implementing robust risk frameworks and building high performing teams capable of operating in complex global markets.
Those roles took me to more than 40 countries. Each jurisdiction brought its own regulatory landscape, cultural nuance and economic challenge. Managing international financial risk required both discipline and adaptability. Negotiating cross border bilateral agreements demanded patience, clarity and an ability to see the broader picture while safeguarding institutional interests. These experiences shaped not only my professional expertise but also my appreciation for governance, accountability and long term thinking.
Bringing Global Experience to Terraverde
Today, as Chief Financial Officer of Terraverde, I am able to bring that experience into a very different but equally meaningful arena. The charitable sector carries its own responsibilities and expectations. Good intentions must be matched with sound financial stewardship. Vision must be supported by structure. Ambition must be underpinned by governance.
At Terraverde, my role centres on ensuring that our development, governance and financial management are strong enough to support the delivery of our charitable objectives. Every pound entrusted to us carries a responsibility. It represents the trust of donors, partners and beneficiaries. Daily financial management is therefore not a routine administrative task but a cornerstone of our credibility. Rigour, transparency and control are essential. There is no place for complacency or for a casual approach to charitable funds.

A Mission That Resonates
What drew me to Terraverde was not only the opportunity to apply my professional background, but the mission itself. Terraverde was founded on a clear vision: to harness modern technology within the UK charity sector in order to deliver practical, scalable solutions. The sector is still adapting to the evolving demands of communities, institutions and individuals. Expectations are changing. The need for measurable impact is increasing. Digital capability is no longer optional.
In this context, Terraverde represents a forward looking model of how charities can and should develop. By integrating technology with sound governance and disciplined financial management, we are positioning ourselves as a capable and credible partner. Innovation must sit alongside accountability. Creativity must be balanced by control.

Shared Purpose and Professional Discipline
Personally, I find great reward in contributing to a charitable enterprise where the values are shared across the team. I work alongside dedicated professionals who bring expertise, integrity and passion to their roles. That shared commitment strengthens everything we do.
For me, the transition from international banking to charitable finance is not a departure from my career path but a continuation of it in a different setting. The principles remain the same: strong governance, careful risk management, disciplined financial oversight and a clear strategic framework. What changes is the purpose. At Terraverde, that purpose is to create lasting, positive impact, and it is a privilege to play a part in making that vision a reality.
